Cross connection survey

8/26/2025

Thank you to those water cunsumers that have filled out and submitted thier cross connection survey.  This is a survey the water system is to have on file to meet regulations.  It is also a great opportunity to learn what you have at your home that might pose a cross connection and or a backflow risk.  A health risk to your water, either in your home or the public water system, might happen if you have one of these devices or conditions.

One question that has come during this process is: What is an "Air Gap" on my water softner?

Your water softner has a drain tube from the brine tank.  This tube extends to a sewer floor drain or other sewer drain pipe.  There should be an air gap between the end of the drain tube and the sewer drain.  It is recommended that at least a 1 inch distance of "Air" between the drain tube and the sewer drain be maintained.  The 1 inch distance of "Air Gap" will prevent a backflow of water from the sewer into the public water system.
